Possible online services disruption due to Internet related outage

A worldwide technology outage is causing disruption to some State of Illinois online systems.  We are aware of this issue and are diligently working on restoration.

Endangered and Threatened Species

There are four endangered and threatened species basic permit types:

  • Scientific - An individual, firm, corporation, partnership, trust, association, private entity, government agency, or their agents and representatives may conduct scientific work involving endangered or threatened animals or federally endangered plants with this type of permit. Scientific work involves collecting, handling, releasing, translocating, or observing closely listed species or their eggs, seeds, dens, nests, or progeny. Applicants may also propagate if an addendum is added to this type of permit.
  • Educational - Individuals or Institutions (e.g. schools, museums, zoos) may possess and use specimens or products of endangered or threatened animals or federally endangered plants in educational programs with this permit. Permits for education purposes will be issued only to institutions or to individuals employed and/or sponsored by an institution.
  • Zoological/Botanical - Zoological/Botanical institutions (e.g. zoological parks, aquaria, arboreta, nature centers) may possess or display specimens or products of endangered or threatened animals or federally endangered plants with this type of permit. They may also propagate if an addendum is added to this type of permit.
  • Limited Possession (Hobbyist) - An individual, firm, corporation, partnership, trust, association, private entity, government agency, or their agents and representatives may possess specimens or products of endangered or threatened animals or federally endangered plants with this permit.
